Bidwell Park is a 2,250-acre park extending from downtown Chico to the foothills of the Sierra Nevada Mountains. The park offers hiking and bicycling trails, a playground, and a variety of sports facilities.Chico just opened the World's first outdoor planetarium in Bidwell Park. The planetarium seats over 40 visitors. Observatory staff give tours of the constellations including associated mythology, general science, and astronomical history. The planetarium also includes a handheld multimedia presentation using state-of-the-art wireless technology. This museum was established in 1970 in Trinity Hall at California State University at Chico to support the Department of Anthropology's unique and innovative museum training program. The museum's mission is to promote respect and appreciation for human cultural diversity, especially of Non-Western cultures, through a variety of interdisciplinary approaches. The Chico Museum displays permanent and changing exhibits of history and art relating to the Chico area. Through its collections, educational programs, and exhibits, the museum seeks to inspire and encourage self-reflexion and dialogue in broadening and understanding of the human experience both on the Chico campus and beyond. The museum is located at 2nd and Salem Streets, the museum 0.1 miles northeast of our Chico property. The museum is open Tuesday through Saturday 11:00 am - 3:00 pm. Admission to the museum is always free to all events and open to the public.
