Count down the days to the annual Fourth of July celebration at Old Town San Diego State Historic Park. It’s the ultimate celebration of Independence Day at one of San Diego’s historic settings. San Diego residents and visitors from around the country are invited to participate in this patriotic family friendly celebration that includes live music, dancing, period clothing, and games for the whole family.
This annual tradition runs all day with a grand kickoff including a brass band performance, patriotic speeches, and a flag raising ceremony. The parade itself runs all around the plaza with a procession of Contra dancers right behind it. Bring your dancing shoes and join the fun as the parade line opens up to event attendees.
Volunteers dressed in period clothing will be available around the plaza to oversee games and activities for children and adults of all ages. The activities have a 19th-century them and include arts and crafts, demonstrations and educational presentations, and games such as the egg toss or cherry pit spitting.
